1973ൽ ബൾഗേറിയയിലെ സോഫിയയിൽ ജനിച്ചു[1]. വളർന്നതും പഠിച്ചതും ന്യൂസിലാൻഡിൽ ആയിരുന്നു. നിലവിൽ സ്‌കോട്‌ലാൻഡിലാണ് താമസം.[2]

കസ്സബോവയുടെ പ്രഥമ കവിതാ സമാഹാരമായ ഓൾ റോഡ്‌സ് ലീഡ് ടു ദ സീ, ന്യൂസിലാൻഡ് മൊന്റാന ബുക്ക് അവാർഡ് നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. പ്രഥമ നോവലായ റിക്കൊണൈസ്സാൻസ് 2008ൽ കോമൺവെൽത്ത് റൈറ്റേഴ്‌സ് പ്രൈസ് കരസ്ഥമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. കസ്സബോവയുടെ സ്ട്രീറ്റ് വിത്തൗട്ട് എ നെയിം എന്ന ഓർമ്മകുറിപ്പ് ഡോൽമന്ന് ക്ലബ് ട്രാവൽ ബുക്ക് അവാർഡിനുള്ള പട്ടികയിൽ ഇടം നേടിയിരുന്നു.[3]
