ഹെൻ‌റി മറ്റീസ് (ജനനം: 1869 ഡിസംബർ 31 – മരണം: 1954 നവംബർ 3) നിറങ്ങളുടെ പ്രയോഗത്തിൽ പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ച മികവിനും നക്കൽകലയിലെ(Draughtsmanship) പ്രാഗല്ഭ്യത്തിനും പേരെടുത്ത ഒരു ഫ്രഞ്ചു കലാകാരനായിരുന്നു. പ്രിന്റ് നിർമ്മാതാവ്, ശില്പി, എന്നീ നിലകളിലും, അതിലുപരി ചിത്രകാരൻ എന്ന നിലയിലും ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലെ ഏറ്റവും അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന കലാകാരന്മാരിൽ ഒരാളാണ് മറ്റീസ്. തുടക്കത്തിൽ 'കാട്ടുമൃഗം' എന്ന പരിഹസിക്കപ്പെട്ടെങ്കിലും 1920-കളോടെ ഫ്രഞ്ച് ചിത്രകലയിലെ ക്ലാസ്സിക്കൽ പാരമ്പര്യങ്ങളുടെ വക്താക്കളിലൊരാളായി അദ്ദേഹം പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[1] നിറങ്ങളുടേയും രേഖകളുടേയും വാചാലമായ ഭാഷയുടെ പ്രയോഗത്തിൽ അരനൂറ്റാണ്ടുകാലം കാട്ടിയ പ്രാഗല്ഭ്യം ആധുനികകലയിലെ ഒന്നാം‌കിടക്കാരനായി അദ്ദേഹം അംഗീക്കരിക്കപ്പെടാൻ കാരണമായി.
