ലെയ്ത്തിന്റെ ആമ
ഇന്ത്യൻ നദികളിലെ, പ്രധാനമായും ഭവാനി, ഗോദാവരി, മോയർനദി തുടങ്ങിയ പുഴകളിലെ ഉപദ്വീപുകളിൽ കണ്ടുവരുന്ന ഒരിനം ആമയാണ് ലെയ്ത്തിന്റെ ആമ (Leith's softshell turtle). ശാസ്ത്രനാമം:Nilssonia leithii. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പൂനെയാണ് പറ്റിയ ചുറ്റുപാട്.

Etymology തിരുത്തുക
The specific name, leithii, is in honor of Andrew H. Leith, a physician with the Bombay Sanitary Commission.[4]

ലെയ്ത്തിന്റെ ആമ ഇന്ത്യൻ ഉപദ്വീപിൽ ആന്ധ്രാ പ്രദേശ്, കര്ണാടക, കേരളം, മധ്യപ്രദേശ്, മഹാരാഷ്ട്ര, തമിഴ് നാട് , Odisha എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ തദ്ദേശിയമായി കണ്ടുവരുന്നു.
