മെയ്‌ഫ്ലവർ
മെയ്‌ഫ്ലവർ 1620 ൽ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിലെ പ്ലിമൗത്തിൽ നിന്ന് പുതിയ ലോകത്തേക്ക് പിൽഗ്രിംസ് എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ആദ്യത്തെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പ്യൂരിറ്റൻസിനെ എത്തിച്ച ഒരു ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് കപ്പലായിരുന്നു.[2] 102 യാത്രക്കാരും 30 ഓളം കപ്പൽ ജോലിക്കാരുമുണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെന്ന് കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നുവെങ്കിലും കൃത്യമായ എണ്ണം അജ്ഞാതമാണ്.[3] അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളുടെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ഈ കപ്പൽ ഒരു സാംസ്കാരിക ചിഹ്നമായി മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു. കപ്പൽ പുറപ്പെട്ട് പ്ലിമൗത്ത് കോളനി സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പായി, ഓരോ അംഗവും സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ ക്ഷേമത്തിനായി സംഭാവന ചെയ്യുമെന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുന്നതും ജനാധിപത്യത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാന രൂപത്തെ സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതുമായ മെയ്‌ഫ്‌ളവർ കോംപാക്റ്റ് എന്ന ഒരു പ്രമാണത്തിൽ തീർത്ഥാടകർ ഒപ്പുവച്ചിരുന്നു.[4] മെയ്‌ഫ്ലവർ എന്ന പേരുള്ള രണ്ടാമതൊരു കപ്പൽ ലണ്ടനിൽനിന്ന് മസാച്യുസെറ്റ്സിലെ പ്ലിമൗത്തിലേക്ക് പലതവണ യാത്രക്കാരെ എത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു.
