നൊറോഡോം സിഹാനൂക്
കംബോഡിയയിലെ മുൻ രാജാവായിരുന്നു നൊറോഡോം സിഹാനൂക് (31 ഒക്ടോബർ 2012 - 15 ഒക്ടോബർ 2012). നിലവിലെ രാജാവായ നൊറോഡോം സിഹാമണിയുടെ പിതാവാണ്. ചലച്ചിത്രകാരനും കവിയും സംഗീതജ്ഞനുമായിരുന്നു.[1] കംബോഡിയയുടെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിന്റെ പിതാവായാണ് സിഹാനൂക് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.കംബോഡിയയുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റായും പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായും സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.[2]

ഫ്രഞ്ച് വാഴ്ചയ്ക്കുകീഴിലായിരുന്ന കംബോഡിയയിൽ നൊരോദം സുരാമൃത് രാജാവിന്റെ മകനായി 1922-ലാണ് സിഹാനൂക് ജനിച്ചത്. 1941-ൽ ഫ്രാൻസ് സിഹാനൂക്കിനെ കംബോഡിയൻ രാജാവായി അവരോധിച്ചു. സിഹാനൂക് തങ്ങൾക്കു വിധേയനായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുമെന്ന് കരുതിയാണ് പിതാവിനെ മറികടന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ രാജാവാക്കിയത്. എന്നാൽ, രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനായി അദ്ദേഹം അന്താരാഷ്ട്രതലത്തിൽ പ്രചാരണം നടത്തുകയും 1953-ൽ രക്തച്ചൊരിച്ചിലില്ലാതെ അതു നേടിയെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. രണ്ടുവർഷത്തിനുശേഷം പിതാവിനുവേണ്ടി രാജപദം ഒഴിഞ്ഞു. 1960-ൽ പിതാവിന്റെ മരണശേഷമാണ് വീണ്ടും രാജാവായത്.
1955ൽ സിഹാനൂക്കിന് രാജ്യം വിട്ടുപോകേണ്ടിവന്നു. രാജ്യം ശീതയുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ ചുഴിലിയലകപ്പെട്ടതിനെത്തുടർന്ന് 1970-ൽ യു.എസ്. പിന്തുണയോടെ നടന്ന പട്ടാള അട്ടിമറിയിൽ സിഹാനൂക് സ്ഥാനഭ്രഷ്ടനായി. ചൈനയിലേക്ക് പലായനം ചെയ്തു. മാവോവാദി പ്രസ്ഥാനമായ 'ഖമർ റൂഷു' മായി ധാരണയുണ്ടാക്കിയത് ഇതേത്തുടർന്നാണ്. സംഘടന കംബോഡിയയിൽ അധികാരം പിടിച്ചെടുത്തപ്പോൾ സിഹാനൂക്കിനെ രാജാവാക്കിയെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട് തടവിലാക്കി. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ 14 മക്കളിൽ അഞ്ചു പേരെ ഭരണകൂടം വധിച്ചു. രണ്ടുലക്ഷത്തോളം പേരാണ് നാലു കൊല്ലത്തെ 'ഖമർ റൂഷ്' ഭരണകാലത്ത് കംബോഡിയയിൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത്. 1975 ൽ പോൾ പോട്ടിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നിലവിൽ വന്ന കമ്യൂണിസ്റ്റ് ഭരണകൂടമായ ഖമർ റൂഷ് 1979 വരെ നീണ്ട ഭരണകാലത്തിനിടയിൽ രണ്ട് ദശലക്ഷത്തോളം പൗരന്മാരെ കൊന്നൊടുക്കി. 1979-ൽ 'ഖമർ റൂഷി'നെ പുറത്താക്കി വിയറ്റ്‌നാമീസ് സൈന്യം കംബോഡിയയുടെ ഭരണം പിടിച്ചു. വീണ്ടും ചൈനയിലേക്കുപോയ സിഹാനൂക് 13 വർഷം അവിടെ ജീവിച്ചു. 1991-ൽ വിയറ്റ്‌നാമീസ്‌സേന പിൻവാങ്ങിയശേഷം രാജ്യത്തു മടങ്ങിയെത്തുകയും രാജാവായി 1993-ൽ വീണ്ടും സ്ഥാനമേൽക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. മകനും ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ രാജാവുമായ നൊരോദം സിഹാമണിക്കുവേണ്ടി 2004-ൽ രാജപദവിയൊഴിഞ്ഞു.[3].
ചൈനീസ് കമ്യൂണിസ്റ്റ് നേതാക്കളായ മാവോ സേ തുങ്, ഷൂ എൻലായ്, ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പ്രഥമ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ജവാഹർലാൽ നെഹ്രു എന്നിവരുടെ അടുത്ത സുഹൃത്തായിരുന്നു സിഹാനൂക്. 1956-ലും 1963-ലും ഇന്ത്യ സന്ദർശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
അർബുദവും വാർദ്ധക്യസഹജമായ അസുഖങ്ങളും ബാധിച്ച് വർഷങ്ങളായി ബെയ്ജിങ്ങിൽ ചികിത്സയിലായിരുന്ന സിഹാനൂക് 2012 ൽ അന്തരിച്ചു.
