2008 നവംബർ 14 ന് ചന്ദ്രയാൻ-1 ൻ്റെ മൂൺ ഇംപാക്റ്റ് പ്രോബ് (എംഐപി) ചന്ദ്രോപരിതലത്തിൽ പതിച്ച ഷാക്കിൾടൺ ഗർത്തത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള സ്ഥലമാണ് ജവഹർ പോയിൻ്റ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ജവഹർ സ്ഥലം [1] എന്ന് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പ്രഥമ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ജവഹർലാൽ നെഹ്‌റുവിൻ്റെ ജന്മദിനത്തിൽ എംഐപി ചന്ദ്രനിൽ സ്പർശിച്ചതിനാൽ ആണ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ മുൻ രാഷ്ട്രപതി എപിജെ അബ്ദുൾ കലാം [2] ഈ പേര് നിർദ്ദേശിച്ചത്. സൈറ്റിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം തിരുത്തുക

അന്വേഷണത്തിൻ്റെ ഇംപാക്ട് ലൊക്കേഷൻ്റെ ഏകദേശ സ്ഥാനം ആദ്യം സൂചിപ്പിച്ചത് 89°46′S 39°24′W / 89.76°S 39.40°W / -89.76; -39.40[5] എന്നായിരുന്നു.  എന്നാൽ പിന്നീട് ഇതിൻ്റെ സ്ഥാനം 89°33′S 122°56′W / 89.55°S 122.93°W / -89.55; -122.93 ൽ ഗർത്തങ്ങളായ ഷാക്കിൾടണിനും ഡി ഗെർലാഷിനും ഇടയിലുള്ള വരമ്പിൻ്റെ ഭൂമിയെ അഭിമുഖീകരിക്കുന്ന ചരിവിലേക്ക് ആയി പുനർനിർണ്ണയിച്ചു.  എംഐപി ഇംപാക്ട് പോയിൻ്റിൻ്റെ കൃത്യമായ സ്ഥാനം അറിയില്ല.[6]
