എ.ഡി. 859 ൽ മൊറോക്കൊയിൽസ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ട സർവ്വകലാശാലയാണ് അൽ കറാവിയ്യിൻ യൂനിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി .[4] ഫാത്വിമ അൽ ഫിഹ്‌രി എന്ന വനിതയാണ് കറാവിയ്യിൻ സർവ്വകലാശാലയുടെ സ്ഥാപക.[5] മദ്ധ്യകാലത്തുതന്നെ ഇസ്ലാമികസാംസ്കാരികകേന്ദ്രമെന്ന നിലയിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധിയാർജിച്ച ഈ സ്ഥാപനത്തിൽ ഇസ്ലാമിക ദർശനങ്ങൾക്ക് പുറമെ വൈദ്യ ശാസ്ത്രം, ഗണിത ശാസ്ത്രം, ചരിത്രം, രസതന്ത്രം എന്നീ വിഷയങ്ങളും പഠിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.
